If you've ever prowled the "pets" area of Craigslist, you've seen people asking for "rehoming" fees or adoption fees.
I don't know why any individual would charge a fee to offload a pet that they don't want, but the Craigslist terms of service allow "rehoming with a small adoption fee."
"Rehoming" isn't a word, but it's for shelters that need to recoup some of the cost they incur while housing these animals. If you ever see an individual using this term, or charging a fee. Please flag the hell out of them.
